EDGE Volunteers to Help Brush Up Council Housing Schemes

A day’s painting is one of the activities planned for our annual AGM later in the month. Teams made up of both trainers and office team members are set to volunteer and will undertake painting projects at four City of York Council accommodation schemes.

A communal bathroom and two hair salons at three of the city’s sheltered accommodation schemes plus a computer training room in a supported hostel for the homeless will each get a fresh coat of paint thanks to the EDGE team.

Councillor David Carr, Executive Member for Housing and Safer Neighbourhoods at City of York Council, said: “The council welcomes all kinds of volunteering opportunities to support the community it serves. I’m delighted that the EDGE Services staff are giving their time and working with us to further improve communal areas at some of our schemes for more vulnerable people in the city.”

Kate Lovett one of our Directors said: “As a result of our connection to elderly care services, the fourteen-strong team is delighted this summer to be involved in a community painting project in conjunction with City of York Council. The EDGE team will divide into groups of three/four for each site and undertake this activity as part of our AGM held in York on 26 August this year. EDGE is providing all the paint and associated materials themselves and the project is part of the company’s commitment to giving something back to the local community.”
