EDGE Services recently attended the Training Provider’s Forum Event in York and North Yorkshire run by SkillsForCare. The event detailed the current local funding situation before moving on to discuss how to best develop and support assessors in the area and the importance of sharing best practice and networking.

As you will already know, an individual source of funding support for social care employers for workforce development, education, training or assessment does not exist. Anyone needing to manage the delivery of learning or workforce development programmes will need to consider a number of sources of funding (a list of these sources can be provided by your local SkillsForCare Brokerage or can be found on their website at www.skillsforcare.org.uk)

Frustratingly, as we discovered during the course of the day, the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) are unable to provide funding for mandatory training such as Manual Handling or Health & Safety. At EDGE Services we know only too well that making budgets stretch is a difficult task.
